24: Live Another Day” has captivated fans since FOX announced it would be bringing back the series in a new event to restart the ticking clock on the groundbreaking and Emmy Award winning drama. The show brings together a group that reunites executive producer Howard Gordon and co-creator Robert Cochran.

Together, the two said they have not only retained the quality of the original, but have also surpassed the real-time, pulse-pounding, fast-paced world of “24.”

Gordon said due to them wanting to keep real-time and with limited shows, they will have to do a time jump somewhere because they are on episode eight with only 12 episodes airing in total. Gordon said fans would know when that time jump occurs.

Cochran said he understands the success of the show and has been pleased with the results of this reinvention of “24” but said he is unsure of what the future holds in regards to a continuation.

“I think it’s a possibility,” Cochran said. “I mean, it’s something we’d certainly think about. There are no specific plans right now, but that’s the kind of thing we would certainly consider.”

“We’ve talked about it often,” Gordon said. “I mean, Bob and Joel created this amazing format into the real time format, which is different than Jack Bauer, who they created as well. The format itself is very sturdy and very durable and we think something with the right story could be compelling. There are no plans, but if a story presented itself to us or, we thought of one, I think we’d all be open to it.”

Both Gordon and Cochran said that one of the major parts of the reinvention what how was it going to end. What will Jack’s ultimate fate be and if he could achieve happiness? Although they both were tightlipped on how the season will end and what the future holds, they said that most of the fans questions would be answered before the series ends.

“24 Live Another Day” also accomplishes something many shows never reach, after it’s airing it will have surpassed 200 episodes, a difficult feat that has made both Gordon and Cochran very happy.

“I guess the fact that it’s lasted as long as it has is something that makes us very proud,” Cochran said. “The fact that it’s made such an impact on the popular culture, and it’s become a touchstone, something that somebody can say “24,” or they can say Jack Bauer and you know exactly what they’re talking about.”

Gordan said it’s the “legacy” for him that makes it worth it and something he never thought would happen.

“24: Live Another Day” airs Monday’s on FOX at 9 p.m.
